Serious adverse reactions, including excessive weakness, dysphagia, and aspiration pneumonia, with some adverse reactions associated with fatal outcomes, have been reported in patients who received BOTOX injections for unapproved uses. In these cases, the adverse reactions were not necessarily related to distant spread of toxin, but may have resulted from the administration of BOTOX to the sitio of injection and/or adjacent structures.

Reconstituted BOTOX is injected into the detrusor muscle via a flexible or rigid cystoscope, avoiding the trigone. The bladder should be instilled with enough saline to achieve adequate visualization for the injections, but over-distension should be avoided. The injection needle should be filled (primed) with approximately 1 mL of reconstituted BOTOX prior to the start of injections (depending on the needle length) to remove any air.

Do not use in people who are hypersensitive to any botulinum toxin product or any components of the vial. There should be pelo infection at the proposed injection site.

This is because each manufacturer uses assay methods specific to their company, so even though dosages may be quoted in similar-sounding units, potency can vary several-fold between the different products. Care needs to be taken that the correct dosage stated is used for that particular product and the approved indications for the different products also vary.

Botox should only ever be injected by a licensed provider. Do NOT attempt to inject this at home yourself as serious and potentially life-threatening side effects may occur. Licensed providers use a thin needle to inject Botox liftera into the targeted muscle or gland.

Ask your doctor if you are not sure if your medicine is listed above. Know the medicines you take. Keep a list of your medicines with you to show your doctor and pharmacist each time you get a new medicine.

Subsequent doses for patients experiencing incomplete paralysis of the target muscle may be increased up to two-fold compared to the previously administered dose.

The effects of Botox aren't permanent because the nerve endings that were blocked by Botox gradually regenerate and repair themselves. You won't wake up one day with the effect completely gone; rather, you'll notice a gradual return of muscle movement over several weeks.
